Für die 50 km brauchten wir allerdings eineinhalb Stunden, schließlich ging es durch die Eifel, über vielfach gewundene Straßen bergauf, bergab. Dass uns zwischendrin auch noch das Motoröl ausging, war da nur ein kleines Neben-Abenteuer.
These 50 km took us more than one and a half hours, as we had to drive through the Eifel - uphill, downhill and along a lot of serpentine roads. Running out of motoroil was only one of the minor adventures on our way ;-)
Wir erreichten die Burg erst am späten Nachmittag und hatten daher keine Zeit, uns die Burg genauer anzusehen. Die ganze Gegend war sattgrün und triefend vor Feuchtigkeit, dicke saftige Moosbetten machten den Untergrund extrem glibschig. Wir verteilten uns, um nach dem Schatz zu suchen und kurze Zeit später hörte ich (nici-) Maja laut aufkreischen. Gottseidank war sie nicht, wie befürchtet in den Bach gerutscht, sondern war auf ihrer Suche bloß auf einen Salamander gestoßen ;-)
We arrived at the area on late afternoon so we didn't have time to visit the castle. The area was green and damp, a lot of slicky moss all around. We separated and after a while I (nici-) heard Maja shriek. But it was not - as I had feared - Maja falling down the hill into the rivulet. She had just found a lizard on her search for the stash ;-)

This was a spontaneous trip from Bonn, right after we had planted our first cache in the Siebengebirge. Without details (fotos, description), only with the coordinates in our Garmin and in late afternoon we started from the Bad Godesberg ferry, because the distance to the Eltz cache was only 55 kms.
After 1.5 hours of up-and-down-and-right-and-left through millions of villages we arrived at Eltz castle ... stunned by the castle and the romantic valley.
Indirectly we arrived at the given coordinates ... Where would I hide a cache ... ah, up there, and there it was :-)
We took the Easter eggs (one week early :-) and left some saffron (German: Safran).
BTW: the blue plastic bag is in quite bad condition, it has started to disintegrate. Next visitor, please replace it.
