Anfangs wandert man sehr angenehm durch Wald- und Heidelandschaften. Hier kann es vorkommen, dass man auch mal ein kaum scheues Rebhuhn vom Weg scheuchen muss, um weitergehen zu können. Ab dem ersten Anstieg läuft man dann auf dem typischen vulkanigen Schotterboden und ohne Deckung vor der Sonne. Spätestens jetzt freut man sich, dass man an (windfeste) Kopfbedeckungen, Sonnencreme und ausreichend Trinkwasser gedacht hat. Auf den Gipfeln kann es auch ganz schön wehen, ich jedenfalls habe öfter einmal die Jacke angezogen. Dafür präsentieren sich die verschiedenen Vulkankrater von oben spektakulär und in allen Farben.      weiter

At the beginning the track leads through sunny woods and moor and you might find yourself sharing the small path with partridges, which are not really in a mood to give way ;-) When the first ascent is reached, the soil changes to the typical crushed vulcano stones and you'll have to walk without any shelter of the sun. That is the moment where you bless yourself for taking (windresisting) caps, sunoil and enough water with you. On the vulanos the wind might blow really harsh, I was happy to have a jacket with me. But all the unconveniences are payed back with the spectacular views on the island, the vulcanos and colourful craters!     continue
